Growing up while constantly traveling between two countries, Canada and Lebanon, I became accustomed to change in my life. I constantly found myself hovering between pursuing a life in the West or staying in the Middle East. Then, upon turning 20, I found myself drawn to the beautiful culture, traditions, climate, and hospitality that Lebanon presented.
I decided to settle in Lebanon and major in public relations. I have always been fond of working closely with people. I have the ability to communicate at a great level, am very creative, and enjoy constant change and development. I knew this would be the perfect career for me.
In 2020, I was contacted by the chief executive officer of Airways Aviation – Lebanon through a mutual connection. I felt that this industry was close to my heart, and I knew that it held fruitful prospects. I began my career with the company by teaching English as a second language to aspiring pilots. Through my extensive knowledge, I established a great relationship with the company and started collaborating with them on a variety of tasks.
Mehyou Group, the holdings company in which Airways Aviation – Lebanon is one of its subsidiaries, offered me a wonderful position and an opportunity that I could not forgo. I was to become the senior executive assistant of the chief executive officer.
My work with the company is very diverse. People usually perceive an assistant as a stereotype, one that gets coffee and arranges meetings. However, my job is way more extensive than the typical perception. I carry an abundant amount of administrative responsibilities within the administration. Since I work closely with the CEO, I work directly with him to carry out some of the company’s most important interests whether it is in regards to its employees, clients, subsidiaries, or network.
Some of the tasks that I delve into include content writing for websites, accounts, articles, and the likes, employee management, client relationship, follow-up and feedback, client meetings, and most importantly, conducting a variety of business on a daily basis with the CEO. It is crucial to be able to decipher the needs of the company to prioritize daily tasks.
In addition to all the work I do, I have formed a great bond with the CEO, Captain Wissam Mehyou. The best part of working with him and this company is you truly feel like you are part of an extended family. I have become deeply fond of him. He has shown me so many things and taught me a lot about the world, about business, and about life. He has become not only a mentor, but a friend and a confidant. These attributes are what make a company successful, having a faithful leader.
All in all, I assert that joining Mehyou Group, in addition to its CEO, is the best decision I have made. I have grown through my experience with the Group. I have learned and continue learning new things every day. The great thing about being part of this company is that you don’t feel like it is just a job you are doing, it becomes a passion. Even though I am a senior executive assistant, working with this Group makes you feel like you are a partner in this company, and you become so dedicated and loyal to it. It is a result of the treatment, the moral, and the relationships found within its offices.
Success does not lie in the revenue a company makes, but within the individuals that lead and operate it.
